What do we do?
We have two main aims:
1. Work with the university to reduce our carbon emissions
Cambridge has a carbon footprint of about 80,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. There are only three other universities in the UK with a worse footprint.
The university has signalled that it is willing to work on renewable energy solutions, and initially its response was poor. However, now with persistence, the univeristy is listening to our calls. We are now working with the University's Environment and Energy Section to reduce its carbon footprint. See here for more details. |
2. Engage students in climate change action
We want climate change at the top of public debate in Cambridge, because we feel it is the most important issue facing our generation. It is vital that today's students understand the importance of global temperature rise, and of the role they and the University can play in reducing it.
Through a variety of methods, including public display, social media and rallies, we hope to involve Cambridge's student body in doing something about this issue, and to demonstrate student support for our campaign to the university. See how you can get involved. |
